Very nice....I buy old trunks and smaller chests at auctions and refurbish them.....they make great storage units....I always think I am going to sell them when done ....but cant seem to part with them...

Those trunks are better than most i have seen.

Scott,

Very nice trunks, my favorite is the bottom in the 2nd pic. ;D

Got that one for a steal at an auction for 25 bucks! Trunks used to be fairly cheap years ago, now they are really taking off price wise.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Look them over carefully,I'm sure you have. Some of the trunks from the 'name' makers of that era,had some secret slide-in spaces where papers or currency could be hidden. You open the lid and look and it looks empty to the eye.A lot of the wealthy people requested it have thse secretive areas. Some of the compartments(spaces) were accessable just from the outside

Cool tip, I'll check them out closer.

Hi Scotto-

I'm not really LOOKING for trunks, but if I see an interesting one at a garage sale for under $40 I'll pick it up. I found this one last year 2 blocks away from where I live. . . It's covered in horse/cow hide(?) and the inside is wrapped in newspaper dated 1812. My wife doesn't care for it but I like it.

You got a great deal on that one, it's a stagecoach trunk. 40 bucks is a steal, thanks for posting!

I alway wanted one to use as a coffee table.

I have a Sage trunk made in Boston.Any idea what year it is (ballpark) ?005.JPG008.JPG007.JPG
