Conservative State Rep wrote back to Letter Opposing Concealed Carry “By all means, leave.”[/h]
February 25, 2013

You have to love when a Conservative politician stands their ground and tells a Liberal to go away. After Rev. Audette Fulbright wrote a letter to Representative Hans Hunt opposing concealed carry laws, he took into account that he’s a 4th generation citizen of Wyoming, and that in America people deserve the freedom to carry a gun – so he wrote back “By all means, leave”

“Was it blunt? Yes. Would I apologize? No,” Hunt said in an interview with the Star-Tribune. He said later: “If I had to do it again, would I sit and think about how to phrase my words more carefully? Probably.”
Read the full correspondence below:
Fulbright’s(Liberal) email:
Dear Representative,
I hope you are taking care of yourself during this busy session. I know it is a challenging, compressed time.
I am writing to express my grave concern about House Bill 105. Ample evidence has shown that schools and guns do not mix, and in particular, guns in the hands of amateurs/non-professionals is extremely dangerous, especially in any highly-charged situation. to expose our children to greater risk in their schools by encouraging more guns on campuses is something that we cannot allow.
My husband and I moved to Wyoming not too long ago. We believed it was a good place to raise children. With the recent and reactive expansion of gun laws and the profoundly serious dangers of fracking, we find we are seriously reconsidering our decision, which is wrenching to all of us. However, the safety of our family must come first. We are waiting to see what the legislature does this session. I know of other new-to-Wyoming families in similar contemplation. Your choices matter. It would be sad to see an exodus of educated, childrearing age adults from Wyoming as a result of poor lawmaking.
sincerely,
Rev. Audette Fulbright
Hunt’s(Conservative) response:
Rev. Fulbright,
I’ll be blunt. If you don’t like the political atmosphere of Wyoming, then by all means, leave. We, who have been here a very long time (I am proudly 4th generation) are quite proud of our independent heritage. I don’t expect a “mass exodus” from our state just because we’re standing up for our rights. As to your comments on fracking, I would point out that you’re basing your statement on “dangers” that have not been scientifically founded or proved as of yet.
It offends me to no end when liberal out-of-staters such as yourself move into Wyoming, trying to get away from where they came from, and then pompously demand that Wyoming conform to their way of thinking. We are, and will continue to be, a state which stands a head above the rest in terms of economic security. Our ability to do that is, in large part, to our “live and let live” mentality when it comes to allowing economic development, and limiting government oversight. So, to conclude, if you’re so worried about what our legislature is working on, then go back home.
Sincerely,

Hans Hunt

Is it not an elected representaive's job to represent the people?
Disgraceful, treating a fellow American as though they were some illegal alien with no rights - just because they weren't born in Wyoming.

He didn't do it because they weren't born in Wyoming. He did it because she came from someplace that's probably very liberal, which her votes probably helped promote, and which she now decided is not too nice a place to live, and moving to Wyoming, is now trying to turn Wyoming into the place she just left. If liberals want to come to Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, etc, they should learn to keep their ears open and their mouths shut for awhile, until they see how things work, assuming they want to feel welcomed. If you want to feel shunned, do what she did.

Happens here in Florida a lot, people move here from NE and then want to change it to match where they came from. When your roots go back over 4 generations you resent anyone who just moves in then wants to change state to match where they just left, if they want it yo be like where they moved from move back....

That is one advantage of hurricanes they convince a lot to move back...

Do you guys actually realize what you are saying?

Is this not the "land of the free"? or... This land is your land? No this land is MY land!

Xenophobic and shameful that we treat "others" this way.

A little like folks moving out to the"country"then complaining about unpaved roads and the smell of manure and want it changed.
Writer had every right to voice concern and received a reply. The ball is back in writers hand on the states playing field.

Doesn't every American citizen have the right to move anywhere in this country that they want. And no matter where they live don't they have the right to voice their opinions to their elected official?

Why is it the folks who talk the most about the constitution or bill of rights or freedoms and liberties are always the first one to try and deny those rights to people that don't share their views??

Why wouldn't your opinion of this person be - this guy is a patriot for taking the time to contact his representative and engage in the American political process??

I guess I'm a little confused by the mixed message??

My rights are just that my rights... Glad to hear this.. Try to violate them and me and the other millions of firearm owners are going to have something to say about it.. Plain and simple a man can only be pushed so far before he pushes back.. Trying to violate our and amendment is a sure fire way to get us to push back and protect our rights as american citizens god bless our 2nd amendment and anybody that is willing to protect it...

Hopefully you respect others rights as much as you respect your own.

I respect your freedom of speech enough to value your opinions and thoughts and to listen to what you have to say on the subject so that should speak for itself as to if I respect others rights....

Don,t let me confuse you. Writer can now move forward or do nothing. knowledge gained all ready will help. Ones representative should know their view and vice versa. I did not see a right denied. Choosing battle still allowed if writer wants to try to change states view. some long term residents just are not going to applaud.
Nothing new in that.

Sure they do. What makes you think they don't? Nobody denied her right to speak, or ask questions. You really shouldn't suggest things that aren't true. But, keep in mind, expressing your opinion doesn't mean everybody is going to like you for it. it also doesn't mean that people won't argue with you, or tell you where to get off....that's the risk you take when you express yourself. I doubt very much that legislator would have her support in an election. In that case he owes her nothing more than what she got...his opinion. If his opinion isn't shared by most of the people who elected him, he'll get the boot. That's how the system works. Actually as I think about this, he gave her good advice. With her attitude, she won't be happy in Wyoming anyway. Most people there won't respect her, or take time to get to know her..they'll simply dismiss her as one more liberal whack-job.

Even for Felons & Ex-felons...?

Even for Felons & Ex-felons...?
No there has to be certain guidelines.. I'm not saying that there should be no control whatsoever.. What I am saying is that I am not a felon or ex-felon and do not wish to be treated like one simply because I am a gun owner.. If a person instigates a riot using his freedom of speech and people are killed are harmed then should that amendment be restricted too.. I understand what you are saying but treating law abiding people like crimminals in my opinion is wrong..

Happened here in Delaware too. A ton of people moved out of Jersey to get away from high/frivolous taxes and corrupt governments. The first thing they did was start electing each other to local government positions and corrupting the offices and raising the taxes and coming up with more and more taxes and more and more services that the government shouldn't be involved in. From what I hear, Jersey is starting to get back to normal now that those people brought their show to Delaware. They complain about the very problems that they themselves are responsible for. Like locusts, they feed off of something until it is depleted and covered in their garbage, then move on and leave the problems for others while they create new problems elsewhere.

Xenophobic and shameful that we treat "others" this way.

So then aren't we free to express our opinion that sometimes a squeaky wheel doesn't deserve grease. That sometimes the squeaky wheel should be tossed in the dump so that someone who doesn't incessantly whine about not being catered too can live next door to me instead?

Why the huff because we agree with the legislature? They can move where they want, just don't expect everyone to change to suit you.

Go back and read letter they wrote, it is a veiled threat, if they dont fail a bill they appear to be passing they are threatening to move out, he just told them to go ahead and by all means move.

The writer of the letter is the one confused about who's land it is.
I heard about this on Glen Becks radio show. It's about time a representative stands up to these liberals who think their views are the only ones that matter......
