I have a almost complete set of .999 pure silver coins(tested with a silver testing machine) with toning on each. Almost each coin has either 0tt stamped on the front. I can't seem to find anyone that knows what they are or where they came from, as I'm missing ten out of fifty. (I would like to finish the set) I was told the album book is from the 1950's.(from one coin appraiser) The Oregon historical society has not responded to my calls or emails. I'm hoping someone can shed light on these. I want to finish my dads collection and his search of these coins for the last 15 to 20 years. Thanks

The last date on the list is 1973, so I'd assume it's from sometime after that rather than the 1950's.

Good catch. I guess the coin appraiser wasn't that good. Lol Thanks...

That's more common than you might think. I've never had one get it right yet.

I'm almost positive these were produced or sold by the Franklin Mint. For starters, it looks exactly like something they would sell (a collection of items shipped one at a time over a long period of time). In trying to search for some information about them, which I'm sorry so say I could find nothing, I did come across a near identical set that was 'solid silver history of california' and they were Franklin Mint. Should you find a way to contact them, they probably couldn't help you complete the collection, but they might be able to provide some info about them such as when it was produced.

Here is the cover of the California set.

The website listing is here:

You can see the similarity, but there is no mention on the website of the Oregon collection. I read an article about the Franklin Mint company. Apparently, they were minting and selling anything they could think of as the company reached it's zenith in the 1970's.

FYI: My father also collected these medals. He was lucky enough to collect all of them. I know they are from Franklin Mint, and that Dad was collecting them them in and after the 1970s. My local coin store would have given me $300.00 for the set, but suggested I check eBay as I could get more money that way. I have not had any luck finding them on eBay, and don’t want to sell them.
