Just got this in the mail. The Division of Historical Resources is having a rule development workshop on June 26 at 1:00pm. It will be at the R.A. Gray building in Tallahassee, FL. The DHR is proposing amendments to Chapter 1A-31 of the Florida Administrative Code, Exploration and Salvage of Historic Shipwreck Sites. The rule provides guidelines for transfering objects recovered by commercial salvors under permit in exchange for recovery services provided to the state. They may also issue new salvage permits to those that currently have a search permit. The DHR has not handed out a salvage permit in 13 years! Maybe things will change for commercial salvors.

Doug forwarded this info to me... I am sure it will be of interest
