We've had one of the longest cold snaps I can remember. It's been in the teens and single digits for most of three weeks. It usually doesn't get that cold here for more than a couple days at a time.
It finally got above 40 on Thursday and has been warm for the last few days so maybe the worst is over.
It will still take a few days for the ground to thaw. I tried to hunt Saturday but the ground is like concrete.
Here are some pictures from my cabin that were taken last week. You know it's cold when running water freezes. IMG_20180109_084417091.jpgIMG_20180109_084505241.jpgIMG_20180109_084542840.jpgIMG_20180109_084424957.jpg

I'm with ya---spring fever 8-)

Beautiful photos! I’m anxious to get out myself. Hope you find something cool.

Man every year its the same. First freeze and everyone starts crying for spring. Its time to become snow birds. Head west for winter and detect all year long!

Good pictures, love the first one.

Two days ago it was in the mid 60s dropped to the low 50s yesterday and today it snowed most the day, so I made chili and am watching football all afternoon.

Thanks BosnMate. If you look closely at that picture, on the right you can see my OG electric cord, and rope that is tied to my transfer pump two feet under the ice. We use the pump to fill a holding tank at the cabin and believe it or not it was still working.

We do. The missions were built in the 1700's The artifacts are spanish and Indian. You won't find a fugio but you can easily find spanish gold and silver as well as Indian artifacts. Have a friend that has a file cabinet full of those.

We even had snow down here in south Georgia. It snowed for almost an hour starting around 8:30am and the accumulation didn't melt until almost lunchtime! Of course all the schools closed as well as non essential government offices.

You’re just now starting to hate winter? slacker! Most of us have been hating it since the first cold temps of November.

After weeks of arctic cold, it finally warmed up the last couple days. It literally was 32 a few days ago and 65 today.

I live in the heart of earthquake country NO BIGGIE. When I saw my first tornado I was crapping twinkies. Scared the living bejesus out of me.

Spring is right around the corner
