Hey every one i thought i would let you all know how ive been doing detecting wise, i have not found a silver coin in months!!!!!!!!! i have not found a coin even worth keeping for the longest time!!! I dont usually do this bad. I think one of the problems is up here in regina, saskatchewan/ canada there isn't much more parks to hunt left. but i should still be finding something. anyway i just wish i could find a silver coin once in a while like before. today i went to moose jaw and hunted for like 6- 7 hours and did not find one penny worth keeping, just like 15 cents in clad. I wish i could be finding what you guys are finding. I have not found one silver quarter this year!!!!!!!

Happy Hunting

I go out with other mders all of the time, and I am
the king of junk. the other guys ALWAYS
find civil war objects and I get SH!!!!T. Every
weekend i not good for me, but I know my time
will come.
Hang in there, partner.

Check out the library and do a little history check with the old timers.
I guarantee you it will pay off. Good luck Sask has a lot of history.

Hey rosevelt

Don't give up man...That is the problem with this hobby we all go threw slumps, some of us get lucky and hit a nice honey hole but the coins these days are few and far between. Try hitting wooded areas near parks, that is where my gang has the most luck, as a matter of fact we hunt mostly woods now, Don't give up you will get lucky.....H.H.. TnT

you just can't make the silver come out of the ground....your just gonna have to keep MD'ing and looking. Try phoning the people who sell homes and offer to cut the lawn or something to MD the homes.

Listen to this...my friend (he lives in Florida) buys a Prism 2 last summer finds a silver quarter his first trip out! Since then he has quit detecting already he was going to put his detector in a garage sale...I offered him $50 for it...He did not respond...so I never asked him about it again. I think location plays a big part in it. As far as your poor clad totals...I guess if the population is not very large...people do not drop as much...but I would stick with it...try to think of other locations...

Hey I know what you mean. Haven't found a wheat in a month. Haven't found silver since the first real trip out with the Explorer. I keep trying though because my philosophy and the truth is if you aren't swining you aren't going to find anything. Hang in there and keep going, your hard work will pay off.

Come down to NY state and I'll put you on a silver coin or two,i have had long dry stretches too so i know how your feeling.Every time i go back to my "land of firsts" is what i call it now, it always graces me with some silver coin even got a 1897 Indian head cent there a few weeks ago.

Hope your luck changes soon

I agree that you should do some research. Regina has a lot of history. Find old plat maps and figure out where the old houses and buildings were. If you still have areas of town where there are historic homes, try to get permission to hunt them. Talk to the librarians (I got a tip today from mine that there's an unmarked Civil War cemetery in a nearby town. I don't MD cemeteries, but I'm going to try to find it and write about it for our Hist. Soc. if I can). Join the local Historical Society if you have one. The research is fun & a good way to spend the snowy months.

I'm most-focused on the historic homes part. I knocked on a door this spring and got permission from the nice owners; found an 1871 Canadian silver dime; found relics they wanted to keep (most recently a Civil War button); and I've gotten 3 great referrals from them to other old homes in town. This winter I'll build a new 1-page color hand-out with pics of my good coin finds and text that tells owners that it won't hurt their lawn; that I propose a 50-50 split of finds; and some other encouraging stuff. When I've gotten some more local successes and references, I plan to advertise a bit.

I live in a small community and have trouble bringing much home at times. The lack of people and the lack of my own research (My fault) all contribute. But on occassion, I have a good / lucky day and feel like I've hit the big one. This site shows some exceptional finds of quality, quantity and rarity that I rarely can match and feel like posting. However, I find it interesting and motivating so when I do find something I feel worth posting, it makes it all worth it.

I try and base my outing successes on my own experience, where when I find something I have not found before or had alot of good targets I feel I have had an exceptional day. I cannot compare with alot of people on the forums. Alot of it is area, "RESEARCH" and dedication and willing to work hard, as is the fact of life.

Anyway, thats my 2 cents and how I keep going. You have to keep it fun or why keep going, there are other hobbies, but I like the thrill of the unknown and the excitement of the rare or plentiful finds. Good luck
