Today in starting an excavation on an early 1800s archaeological site on the parramatta river.

Hey Bob. Going well my friend. Weathers a bit on the turn. Lots of rain lately making everything boggy around the place.
Nah i havnt been down there. I havnt been able to get my ctx on site yet. But im hoping too. The well is only a foot deep with water. Quite shallow for a well. Its an old colonial homestead site that needs mapping and documented before the civil construction can begin.
My job was to just slowly strip the ground level back down to natrual level so the archy can take a look and note any new features or relics.
There is a small team showing up tomorrow to go over the areas i prepped today.

Dark patches are to be excavated as they my contain relics. Some are also old post holes

Pick up are rocks if you can small is OK . Show if you can. That looks lime it could have a few goodies. To bad you can't explore it first.

The site dates only from around the 1830s. There getting me to scrap all the top layer off so they can then start work.
There going to start in more detail tomorrow. Found a few cool bits todat. But yeah its a total let down i cant run my detector through it. Ill post some more photos up soon of day 2

Day 3. Things have begun to slow right down as the archeaologists start to do their thing. Mapping and documenting the site.
