I just thought of a great location to get me started. I live about 300 yards from a good sized fairgrounds. I was thinking about going up there and doing some detacting and maybe pick up some pocket change in the process. Also I live about 20 miles from alot of rocks with small caves in them, maybe some outlaw buried a cache there, I can dream, can't I?

I also wanted to add that these caves have cold water trickling through them. I have been in them once but that was years ago and just to see if I could fit through. any idea what knids of things might be found there? It is a state park so there have been lots of visitors over the years and I seem to remember som stories about that place. I will let you know after searching some.

Hi Mike - sound like great sites! Just be careful of permission and law issues.
The fairgrounds near where I live (Pacific Northwest) SELLS permits to
metal detectorists on a blind-auction basis every year! They know that
LOTS of people lose things at the fair, and pickins will be good. So you
might want to call the Fairgrounds business office to see if you can detect
there first - could be they do the same thing.

As for the cave, just be sure it's not part of Federal land or otherwise
protected - especially if there's a chance of Indian stuff being in it! Might
find yourself in trouble with the law...

Good luck - and if the fair grounds are 'safe' and haven't been hunted,
bring a LARGE bag for your goodies!

? I have nothing on the Caves; there May be Indian Objects Etc. in them tho. ? ? ? ?In clearfield County , a trapper in the Late 1700's had a lead & silver Mine somewhere near his cabin at the JCT. of Morgan Run & little Clearfield Cr. near stoneville. rich ore was said to have been found in his cabin after his death ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? along Clearfield Cr. 2 mi. south of Dimeling are the remains of an old farm, known as the LAMBERT PLACE. aound 1914 the man was roumerd to have buried a Crock full of Pennies, in a wooded area near his house. ? ? ? Somewhere Between indian Rock & long Run on the Woodland side of missionary Cr.there is supposed to be a Cache Buried. no other details on this ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? IN 1946 a Meteorite Fell downing trees & making a long Ditch in the Hillside of MISIONARY RIDGE at the Junction of Doctor's Fork and Lick Run. it was never Recovered ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Near Karthaus was a IRON FURNACE 1817 to 1839 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?S.W. of Luthersburg Former Camp of indians was where 2 paths crossed "The Shamokin" & the "Venango" Paths during the war of 1812, Amrican troops camped there for several days. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? JEFFERSON COUNTY: CONIFER once had several Hundred People. ? ? ?FULLER is a Ghost Town near Brookville ? I HOPE I NAILED DOWN YOUR AREA ?

pretty good there. I would like to get more info on that luthersburg area one. since my wife's ex-inlaws own most of that area I would be given free access to all of thier property. I have trapped alot around there and know it pretty well.

All else I have is "The Big Spring" (PA 410 ?) .5 mile S.W. of Luthersburg. there should be a historical marker that says Former Camping Place at the Junction of 2 Indian Paths: the GREAT SHAMOKIN, running from Sunbury to Kittanning; and the Path of the Venango, Now Franklin. During the War or 1812, Maj. McClelland's force Camped here. Spring is 60 yards SW of this sign.

are you Familiar With "WHISKEY RUN" in Indiana County ? & the Story about it

A little bit but a topo map is like my best friend. I can find the smallest details on them. I have been using them for finding trapping lications for a few years and I can pick out the best places quickly.

mike

WHISKEY RUN : about 12 mi. west of Indiana. 1 Mi. from WEST LEBanon . founded 1806 had a reputation ov Violence, Secrecy & unsolved murders. the town was Headquarters to The "BLACK HAND EXTORTION GANG" alot of Caches are said to have been hidden there. if that was within My Traveling Distance, I'd hit that one hard

Whiskey Run: LATITUDE N40 36.094' LONGITUDE W79 20.715'

You PA guys have all the fun. ?All we ever get around here is da hoards buried by prohibition-era mobsters like Capone, Dillinger, Big Jim Colisimo and dem der guys.

? ? There is also A creek Known as Whiskey Run.?I'm not Absolutely Shure, I got them from a Book Titled"Site Locator For PENNSYLVANIA" which lists Ghost Towns, Old Forts, Battle Fields, Treasure.? The Cordinates were Correct For sites in my area, So I would Think their Close. You Would Most Likely be Best Talking to A historical Society on this one, as I'm shure the Town Is Gone Completly

The Site Locator Places it 1 1/2 Mile East SOUTH EAST of West Lebanon & about 1/10 mile South East of SR 56 & Cemetery Road. Sounds Like The Cemetery May Have Been Part of the Town. ?

Jeff,

what does your book say about a cache buried between hicks run and dent's run? also I have heard of a cache of gold buried by union soldiers during the civil war in the medix run area, anything on this?

mike

I finally checked out fuller. I have been by that place at least 100 times. I hunt just over the hill from fuller and it is a short walk off the main road since the road that goes to fuller is no longer there. I will definitely check out that one.

mike

I have Nothing Mentioning Medix Run, However Being ?Dents , & Medix are both in ELK, & the Dents Run Treasure Being a Shipment of Gold by Union Troops, My belief is there both the same story. ?I HAVE too much Paper work on this treasure to Type here , as I type with one finger & it would take weeks . ? ? However, All the Stories Run in circles & end with the same conclusion. ? 26 Gold Bars, weighing 50 Pounds Each are somewhere on the Ridge going N & S just West of the East Branch of Hicks Run, Near Dent's Run, just off todays Highway 555. In The same County. the Only thing ever Found were the Abandond Wagons, the remains of several mules still in their Harnesses at the above ?scene. Then in 1876 A survey Crew Found the Bones of ?3-5 Humans In the area of a spring at the head of Bell's Branch Of Dent's Run, about 7 mile from where the Wagons were Found. Pinkertons Never Found the Hoard, But there is a roumer that 2 1/2 bars were found in 1865 under a tree, 4 mi. south of the site the wagons were found. ? ? AS I'M SHURE YOU'R AWARE, Being A Hunter, alot of that area is the Same Now, As it was back then. "A Virtual Jungle"?. Where Would you start ;D ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
