pretty sure its modern black powder but you never know? Hopefully its old.
It looks like it has a little of a star base left but I doubt that that is what it is.
It was found in a creek which may explain why it is not powdery white like a civil war bullet.
I've seen them come out of water gray online. Let me know.

It is definitely a 20th Century "Maxi-Ball" bullet, made and sold for Blackpowder shooting. Even today, you can buy them pre-made or buy a bulletmold from Lyman to cast your own Maxi-Ball bullets.
