Went out with Jeff of Pa the other day we didn't find much i found this stamped brass. Any ideas what this was used for? It was found at an old bank/pay station. It seem like it went to a back of a chair or something. It has a T in the center of the diamond and below the diamond it is stamped N and Y on either side of the diamond. Thanks for looking.

Looks decorative for sure, nice find
 

It's a large paper clip or clamp. Also known as letter clips, they were very popular desk items in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Advertising clips were especially common. Here's an example:
