I found one like that too although not that long and I never did figure out what it was. I cleaned mine off and under the "handle" I found some marks but cant remember what they were or where my piece is. I wondered if it wasn't the end of a buggy axle and had been driven in the ground for a corner marker but I wasn't at a corner and was digging in a CSA camp. I hope someone knows...d2

If it's not a stake, how about maybe a splitting wedge for wood? I know it doesn't look like a modern wedge, buy I really can't think of anything else right now on one cup of coffee.

Thanks for the thoughts and information. I hope somebody knows what it is too, I am really curious about it. Do you think the new format affecting the lack or responses on things? This isn't my only post, but the number of views and replies are REALLY low!

Probably a dumb question, but... What is CSA?

Probably a dumb question, but... What is CSA?

Confederate States of America . . ..our boys in grey! :) Breezie

Unofficially of course. They didn't win recognition. ;-)

Would you care to elaborate on what you mean by the above statement? Breezie

The Confederate States of America were never recognized by the United States as anything other than states of the Union. And no foreign government ever recognized the CSA as an independent country or government (only a "belligerant power" but still part of the USA by some like England).

That's why the stuff marked "CSA" is collectable - like a mint error. (Now I'm funnin' wit 'cha)
