I found these on a football field. They play pee wee football there. It was used for other activities years ago, but these were found fairly close to the surface and I believe they are recent losses. They have an opening in each end and balls on the side like they push into a tube. The holes have a piece in the middle like it might connect to something. There is no visible hole that goes all the way through. I have found a lot of screw in spikes on this field. Could they be a strange kind of push in football spike?

Any ID help would be appreciated.

I've seen some snap-apart keychains with a mechanism like that.
Looks a little big for a keychain, though.

They almost look like steel track & field shoe or cross country ski spikes? :icon_scratch:

Is that a marking I see on one? They look like a type of safety fastener that would take a special key.

They appear to be parts of some machine to me? Something related to the lawn mower for the field?

Does the center pin push in allowing the balls to also push in as in a quick release?

Thanks to everyone for the input. Machkin you got it. I have not seen any of the new football equipment. The last time I put a football helmet on was in 1965. Thanks and keep swingin.

P.S. for those who thought they saw letters, they are scratches made from use. Thanks again for all the input. That’s what makes this a great group.

Are you sure about the scratches? The circled area looks like there's an "R" printed on it.R.jpg
