Stainless steel 1940 canadian penny??

My ol lady found this the other day in her change

looks silver or stainless ??

Looked online for info on it but want your guys opinion.
 

Can you see into the drill marks? I'm thinking its plated and maybe you could see copper edge in the drill holes.

It's neat and I would think plated or treated with a chemical to make it look like that, poor George. :laughing7:

There's a head scratcher

Different I'll say, although. I have in my collection a couple of UK 3pence coins from the same time frame, and they are similar in appearance and size. I feel they may have been used by troops during WW ll in Britain as a badge or medal for identification or for God knows what Just a theory, it just could be something simple

I wonder if anyone else out there has any other early 40s coins drilled out like that

Probably plated for a bracelet. Make a small scratch on the inside of one of the holes and under a bright light you will probably see a color change.

It does lol like it's scratched like rust on the kings face a tiny bit. I saw one with the mason symbol stamped into it the same year must be a pass token of some sort or like u said a badge cool stuff anyhow lots of mystery behind it :)
