The owner of this property told my brother this was a stagecoach stop back in the 1800's and the story that's been passed down is that there were sometimes 30 to 40 stagecoaches and carriages parked here!

We knew the site had been detected before but after half an hour my brother(Willybgood) and i each had a merc and half dozen pennies on us so we knew they hadn't gotten everything.

Even my greenhorn (first timer) nephew Chris found a couple of wheaties and some relics with a cheap detector. Does he look like he's havin fun?

Here's a shot of all of our finds.

Chris found this decorative brass piece, looks familiar but.. :icon_scratch: Any ideas would be appreciated :help:

Then not to be outdone by my draped bust I got a couple weeks ago, Willybgood digs an 1807 Draped bust largie!! His Explorer also sniffs out crotal bells very well and he dug two number three, intact bells. There is still a lot of ground to cover and I think previous detectorists have worked it over pretty good but the Large Cent and crotal bells prove there's still some relics from that era left to be found. Good luck on future hunts there bro. A beauty day to be out with my brother and nephew :icon_thumleft:

Now that is some nifty digs right there. That Draped Bust is sweet. That looks like the kinda place we all dream about hunting. Get back there soon and go over it again, and after that do it again, and after that do it again....well you get the point. Nice hunting. Congrats on the great relics. That Whatsit may be the decorative face for a door handle part. ??? Nice digs all the way around.

Nice finds at a super cool spot!

Nice looking place for MDing - great LC. The brass piece may be an escutcheon for the doorknob for an old rimlock. The rimlock would be mounted on the opposite side of the door. That's my guess, anyhow. Congrats to your brother on the LC.

Like the gentlemen said, an escutcheon plate, and in real nice shape too. The design is great. Just like that large cent!

A beautiful location, beautiful finds, and great company. Sounds like Heaven. :icon_thumleft: That is a Fantastic Draped Bust you found!

Congratulations, my friend.

I do not think whoever detected it before knew what they were doing! you had a ton of GREAT finds, keep hitting that place, gotta be more goods there for you

That stagecoach stop looks prime in giving up some copper candy. Hit it at every angle and you will be suprised at what may show up. :icon_thumleft:

Gotta love Draped Bust coppers!!! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:

Great day...great finds...great pics...great company...and a cheap shot at your nephew's detector :laughing9:

The smile on his face says it all. That's the same look I still get on my face...just ask brother Nick :headbang:...unless it's crap in the hole instead of silver ;D

Geesh I thought you were above the "detector wars" ...

This calls for a BIG DEPOSIT in the TRUST FUND ... DAD ... :o

I will expect a statement in the A.M. ... :laughing7:

The son you wish you had ... Nick
You are such a wise son, my reference to the $100 wallyworld detector as cheap was a "cheap" shot ;D sorry,i spent most of your trust fund on my dfx lol...

thanks BB, the finds aren't always what makes the day special eh?. Chris is moving in a couple weeks to Vancouver,B.C. so our detecting day together will probably be the last time i spend any quality time with him for a long, long time

The pics of the house are exciting just to look at them :o Nice job on the LC and your other finds, hope you find more goodies there!
