I found this on the St. Louis Parks and Recreation site. Handy to print out and keep in your wallet. The site is buggy and sometimes difficult to access.

It basically says that detecting is allowed in St. Louis County Parks, that digging is not allowed but probing with device with a shaft of less than 1/4" can be used as long as ground cover is not damaged, detectorists may keep there finds.
