Square with animal design - SOLVED

Does anyone know what this is? I've found them before at numerous old properties with CW ties.
This is the first one I've dug with what looks like an animal on it.
Measures 1/2" square & 1/8" thick.

Thats a neat thing, The animal looks like what you see on English silver or pewter. dont know but I like it.

I believe that it is a coin weight. A couple of square weights with dots can be seen about 3/4 of the way down the page at:

Yes looks like a weight to me, 18th Century. Find these types of weights in England. This one as 3 dots on it and the square stamp mark is worn, but it may be a lion.

I believe that it is a coin weight. A couple of square weights with dots can be seen about 3/4 of the way down the page at:
