Dug a little while ago. I can’t tell if this is a railroad spike, square nail, or neither lol. . It’s about 6 inches. Any insights greatly appreciated. Thank y’all.
I’d guess some type of spike. Doesn’t really match any square nails I’ve found, but there are many different types. The head has a single lip extended, similar to many spikes.

Looks like a railroad spike. Google railroad spike.

Why don't you put a dime next to it and give us some idea to the size of it. I know you said 6 inches but how wide also

It could be a trolley spike. The ones we find look like this and are smaller than RR spikes.

Looks just like and the same size as some rail spikes I have, mine are from ore cart rails from underground mining.

Just like the rail tracks in the old gold mines in the movies

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Sure looks like a rail spike of some kind. Are there any rail lines of any kind near where it was found? Pretty old looking too.

Not very far. Probably 1/4 a mile away was a railroad where cypress was loaded and hauled. Amazing thing is about 3 years ago, an entire anvil was dug about 20 yards from that find. There’s so much iron in my local area lol.
