Yep a weird warm spell here. Watched all the white stuff disappear yesterday, found out the ground was no longer frozen for the most part this morning. 55 degrees or higher and a lot of rain so I went digging for about an hour. Got a wheat, a neat aviation button, and a concertina reed. Also got 5 clad pennies, and some shotgun slugs. Gonna try again tomorrow. The cold will be back on Thursday.

"A concertina reed" is that what I have been finding? I've been throwing them in the brass/copper bucket but probably have half a dozen or so. what exactly is a concertina reed? What year is the wheat?

Do a google image search for a concertina. It is basically a mini accordion. I have dozens of them. The wheat is a 46D.

Nice digs, Mike. Glad you were able to get out and take advantage of the spring-like weather. :icon_thumleft:

Congrats on the Wheat and cool button!! WTG Mike!

Nice Digs. I also didn't know they were concertina reeds. I've dug 4 or 5 of them over the years.
I will have to live vicariously through you guys I guess. Up here (50 miles south of the bridge) we have tons of snow. All I know how to shovel anymore. My snowbanks at the end of my driveway are over 6ft high now. Will spring ever come?
