spring is near and so is the grage sales!!

Do they ever have any auctions or anything during the winter up there? I've been down here so long I forgot about winter and things being limited.

I guess I won't be able to move too far north when I relocate in a couple years, Maybe N. Florida or S. Ga.?????

auctions used to be alot better.....the good estates are gard to find...lotsa good stuff in those lot boxes tho...if you can get em for a couple bucks...

We have auctions here in Indiana, but it isn't like it used to be.

There used to be an estate auction every weekend, especially during the spring, summer and fall. These days, we can go for months without a single estate sale.

Looking forward to hitting more GS this spring!!!!

I wonder if it's because more things are being sold via the internet nowadays? :icon_scratch:

Past few weeks have been slow GS wise here in tampa area . Did good today . Pulled junk jewelry and some silver and gold good jewelry . So im happy and one of the jewelry boxes had 3 marbles in it .

I went to my first "Estate" sale of the season yesterday in Alpharetta (just north of Atlanta) and was disappointed. When my wife and I got there we found out it was actually a moving sale for a younger family, but being managed by an Estate company.

I walked in and I immediately saw a nice silver set and some oil paintings, so I thought this may be a good sale, but then I saw the prices. The paintings mostly ranged from $2000 to $4000, they also had a modern Asian style dress for $650, a pottery barn bed for $850, and used car cleaning supplies for $3 a bottle. One thing that caught by eye was a Roller Coaster Tycoon pinball machine for $1500 which is good compared to retail, but well over what you would expect at a sale.

We did find a nice oversized white turkey platter for $10, but most people I saw were leaving empty handed.

Not a great start, but it is a start.

Alot of estate sale companys overprice here in tampa area . Some get to know you and will cut deals the more you buy . Others I dont get . There is a list of estate companys i wont go to there sales because its a waste of my time since they price at or above retail . I also have a list of some i like to go to they either price good or give deals or are willing to bicker . I still prefer garage sales and community sales .
