Basically spent 5 hours gridding the last small annex of the site. This area has only produced about 30 coins in all the years we have done it, with many years just getting 1 coin. Therefore we were pleased with the 14 we got today. There is only 1 small area left to try but if we get 1 coin from there we wouldn't be surprised.

14 Roman Coins
Broken Roman Hair Pin
Small piece of a Roman Ring Bezel (1st C AD)
Strange bronze piece with bits of enamel

That ring bezel looks quite large. It would have been amazing to find the whole thing. Great hair pin and scrappies too.

Cheers

That's a nice collection. I miss detecting in Europe. Maybe one day I'll get the chance to head back out there.

Good day with two nice coins out of 14. We usually get a 1 to 10 ratio at best. This field has kept you busy for some days. Amazing to see what all comes up when not in a hurry like it is often in harvest times.

good hunt, nice amount of coins, the denarius might still be sitting in the field, good luck!

Yeap, completely different, because of not only that but because the soil has been settled compacted, flat & wet. Perfect really to get all the deeper ones.

We covered many acres very carefully, so if we missed it, it was deeper than the XP 11" coil could find or deeper than the Deus could get. Missing things on swings could happen but when you dig a few hob-nails you feel pretty confident.

Pretty productive hunt still, getting Roman's in that quantity is productive. What's the other two finds in the picture with the round bronze disk?
