One thing to be careful of is if you hunt pennies are these Sterling silver fake cents

they are not real or government issue, they are just a copy casting of a 2000D penny in sterling silver,

They are not done very well either.

Things to watch out for besides the obvious color from the wrong metal.

1. Obvious sprue points from casting.

2. Bubbles on the casting, again showing it was cast and not stamped.

3. burnt silver from the casting, ie tarnish, castings of such detail cant be polished with out losing the detail and looking polished.

Also, the weight and size is lower and smaller than that of a cent. They are 2.8 grams and slightly smaller, obviously the result of a mold and possibly of a jewelry test done years ago for a detail study!

The fact that there are counterfeit silver pennies out there is disturbing! but could there also be copper cents out there as well that are castings in copper dated 2000D ?

This is also stuff to look out for on other coins that could be castings. know what to look for!

I am not sure that I would complain if I found silver in a penny box. I'll take the shiny stuff, no matter what it looks like.

Sign me up to JD. I'd love to have one in my collection.

I only have the two.

But I will trade you one.
I will take either a 90% half

or a couple proofs I need if you got em.

I could use the following clad
86S
91S
90S
81S
82S
79S
74S
93S
94S
95S
96S
97S
98S
99S
04S
06S

For trade across I have the following extra clad proofs

78s x2
71s x3
03 x1
00 x1
05 x4
78 x2
73s x2
72s x3
77s x1
89s x1

I have a few extra Silver proofs I can do on a case by case basis
70s x3
70d x3
69s x3
68s x2

Of course all of these are from CRH so they have some marks and dings on them and I figure the same for any trade. I am just putting together a type set that was "all found" even if some was traded.

Yikes!

I'd keep this transaction on the QT guys. Unless the examples you have have "COPY" written on them they are actual counterfeit money and subject to Secret Service confiscation.

Dng it JD, I don't have any of the proofs you need. I will give you a 40 for one. PM me if it is on.
