I was md'ing in my back yard yesterday when i got a good strong 99 on my ATP, mixed in with other signals. Thinking it was silver, I decided to dig and this thing pops out the ground. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like a spoon. The t spoon.JPGop corner broke off, so i decided to run just the broken piece under water and it looked as if there was silver in it, but maybe just plated. Any ideas? Any cleaning procedure recommendations are welcome. thanks.

Post your question or just check the "restoration forum" also. Those guys do know of some good techniques. That thing has been in the ground a long time IMO. I'm eager to see what it looks like all cleaned up. Hope it's a very old something.

I'll be surprised if it is a spoon. I'm guessing it is a cabinet door pull or similar.

Looks like a blob of melted aluminum. Perhaps a blob of melted lead if it's very heavy. This stuff is fairly common to find.
