When I first dug it up it looked like a spoon but the shape looked strange. When I turned it over I saw it was a mold to make spoons.

Sand casting method.

Cool find, but nothing to do with sand casting.

It's one half of a two-piece pour-in mould, likely for casting pewter spoons, which usually date to the 18th or early 19th Century. It's Queen Anne Pattern, like this one [pictures from the 'Old Dominion Forge' website]:
