I hit an 1880’s house on Sunday. This token was found dead center in the front yard. I haven’t found or seen one like it so I did some research on the token. The front reads “Graham and Morton Lines” The back reads “The Grand Excursion Line, St Joe 50 cents, Grand Rapids $1.35” and features a steam ship in the center.

Sweet token!

Thanks for sharing that great find, Reb,
and many thanks for the story. I recommend to everyone who visits your post, to read it. Great history, good mystery.

and besides - Why would those letters that were found, be possible hoaxes? I wonder where they are now.
We could DNA test them ;D

Cheers, Mike

That's a mighty neat token you found there, I'm about 50 miles from Grand Rapids Mi

bit of history you got there ---guess one could use it to pay the ferryman on the river styx with I guess --- good for a one way passage === Ivan
