Does anyone know where I can find a spec sheet or a users manual, online, for a Garrett Master Hunter CX3? I can't find much at all, since this MD is a few years old and I believe it was replaced by the CX Plus. I am probably going to buy one very soon (like today or tomorrow), but need more info on it first. Is it good for finding gold? Is it good on wet salt beach sand (the lane)? Please help, before I buy this MD, only to find out later that it's no good for gold or wet beach sand. Thanks, SS

Thanks, Floyd Mann. I just found a user's manual on the Garrett website, in a place where I didn't look previously.
Sorry to bother you guys. Thanks for the link though. I'm going to go buy that MH CX3 now. I am convinced that it will work in wet salt beach sand and be able to find gold, if the settings are right. It's not the best MD in the world for this task, but it's the one of the best in my price range. SS

The Garrett CX3 will not handle the wet beach sand well. It doesn't have a salt mode. You could turn down the sensitivity to "get by" with it in these conditions, but you will lose much depth from an otherwise good detector.

Hey Sandman, my CX3 has a "beach mode", which is supposed to minimize/eliminate salt. I figure if I put it on beach mode and play around with the depth/sensitivity, I should be able to get it to work fairly well on wet beach sand. Does that sound about right? If that doesn't work, I'll try it on non-motion mode, which has automatic ground balance and provides better depth. If that doesn't work, I might buy a Double D coil for it, which is supposed to be the best coil for wet beach sand. I'm also going to keep records of what settings I had it on and what I found and keep tweeking the settings until I get the desired results. Hey, it was $229 and was the best used MD in town. I would have had to send away for a brand new Tesoros, Minelabs or White's to get any better results, which would have cost me about 3 times as much money. I doubt that they would find 3 times as much treasure though. SS
