Today had another hunt on the same area of my second gold coin. First I searched again where I found the gold coin. Nothing else was there.
A few coins, roman, Illyrian and byzantin.

Leo VI, AE Follis. Constantinople. 886-912 AD. LEON bASILEVS ROM star, Leo, crowned and wearing loros, seated facing on lyre-backed throne, holding labarum and akakia / LEON EN ThEO BA SILEVS R OMEON

The akakia was a cylindrical purple silk roll containing dust, held by the Byzantine emperors during ceremonies, and symbolizing the mortal nature of all men.

But the most interesting find was this silver earring laying just under the surface. On my opinion, the earring is from 8-9th century. It is amazing how it was not broken!

Cheers!

That is a really fine/delicate looking earring Vince. What is the stone, or is enamel?
Either way congrats on the recovery.

Hi Vince, is this an defined site - as in a site with previously defined habitation?
The range of coins is amazing.
very nice

Nice selection of coins as always.
Yes, any ancient ear ring is a very rare find in my books. I'm not familiar with them, so can't help on the dating.
Keep at it!

No, it's all silver. It looks very fragile. Strange how it could resist!

Yes mate. There are no signs but once it was a very populated area. I've found one or two Venetian coins,14-15th century but the rest is mostly from 4-3rd BC till 9th AD.

Actually I dig a few cigarette foils and the earring could be one of them, so it's a good habit to dig them all including iron.

Yes, I clear lots of foil.

More great finds, including the Leo VI follis minted in Constantinople.
Here's another pic to show the details:

Don.....

Thanks Don!:icon_thumleft:

very pretty area with all the wildflowers. Looks a little hard to detect with growth that tall. I would imagine you could find a lot if it were mowed

Great finds and beautiful countryside!

Looks like a nice place too.

Thanks,for sharing and good luck!

Thanks buddy! This is the best part, I would consider the grass, very low here. This is plugged soil. The best objects are found on the sides of the hill.

Thanks Tom! As we all know, we always show only our finds(the best part of this hobby).
Maybe we should post also the difficult part and the trash. :laughing7:
