Hello all,,,
It's been awhile since I have posted anything. I've been a little under the weather, and also trying to hide from it. ( I hate winter ) Anyway, I have manage to get out a few times this last month and lucked into a few goodies.
Found this 1896o Barber Quarter at the cache site at a depth of only 4" down. The 1876s Seated Dime was also found at the cache site a few days later at a depth of 4" also... It was in fairly good condition until I scratched the heck out of it...

went back out yesterday and found a few wheaties and this Special Olympics Medal at a depth of about 7" down. It reads, " Special Olympics / Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. / Foundation / Chapter " and has thier logo on the other side. It's 2" in diameter and made of cast/pot metal and is plated with either copper?, or bronze?

Anyone with any idea of the age on this one?..
I found one on ebay similar to it, but it doesn't give any details about it...

This next object pictured was found by a friend of mine. It's about 2" long, and about 1" wide and is made of silver. Not sure if the blue is just glass, or some type of stone, but it sure is pretty to look at...

Hey leon...we wondered where you were. Hiope you are feelingbetter. Those are some nice finds...the silver is great. That little blue stone thing...looks like it could have been the lid from the front of a ladies watch or a small compact/locket......its very pretty . Are there any hinges or attachments to it...

Re: Special Olympics Medal + Silver...

Hey Leon,Nice finds.Sorry you scratched that dime. What's all over that quarter?Don't know anything about the SO medal but that piece your friend found is really cool.Like to know more about that.

Re: Special Olympics Medal + Silver...

Welcome back Leon - yep, it's definitely been a while!

Good lookin' pile of stuff - nasty scratch on the dime :D

Thanks for posting - better get out before the weather turns cold! Glad you're feeling better.......

Re: Special Olympics Medal + Silver...

Great finds. Seated dime is in great condition - scratch is on the back so not too big a loss. 8)

But what is the story with that Barber Quarter? What caused the disformation?

Re: Special Olympics Medal + Silver...

Nice coins Leon. Too bad about the seated dime. I've done my share of damage to coins too.
Looks like Miss Barber needs a facial.

Re: Special Olympics Medal + Silver...

Great finds, Leon. Glad to see you back at TN and feeling better.

Not sure if the SO Medal is a state or international medal. Regardless, it's a neat find. The blue glass whatsit is unique.

Re: Special Olympics Medal + Silver...

Hey all,,,
Thanks for all the kind words, & comments...
Also, sorry about the lack of info on the "Blue Stoned" item... I had a more detailed post going, but my computer kept locking up on me, so I just kept it short. It was a broach, or pin of some type. It still has the clasp, and half of the pin on the back... The item was found at the cache site, so I'm thinking it's probably got a little age to it. Haven't had a chance to get back with my friend to see if he found any markings on it. When I do I'lll try to post an update.

Thanks again for all the replies, it's good to be back.
Good luck, & Happy hunting~
