I found this diving in a river in SC. I assume its a spearhead? Any ideas on age or confirmation its a spearhead?

It appears the base is missing which is a key identifier for time period.
It is a great looking lance though.

Yes I agree it looks like the base was snapped off. Still at 7 inches it is either a spearhead or a large knife I would think. Very nice find. Visibility must have been good down there.

Most likely was a knife, looks too large for spear point especially with part of it missing. Do you have a picture of the base where it broke off?

It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and a great find - congrats! :occasion14:

Here are more photos. Not sure of the best angle so took a few:IMG_0096.JPGIMG_0097.JPGIMG_0098.JPGIMG_0099.JPGIMG_0100.JPGIMG_0101.JPGIMG_0102.JPG

NICE FIND NEW MEMBER AND WELCOME TO TNET.

That's in really good condition even if it's broken. It must've been lost not long after it was made. What does the other side look like?

What does the other side look like?

Other side is in exactly the same condition and can't really tell difference except maybe for pattern in the flaking or whatever you call the technique used to chip away the rock.

What do you mean? Are they normally more broken or chipped from use ? It must have taken a while to create something this big so I could imagine it would have sucked to lose this early.

So it's the same but different? It would help identify the point if you show the other side.

Sorry I meant it looks the same to my untrained eye. Here are photos of both sides
