That's what it is. They are the animal police. They even have a show on Animal Planet at 10:00 pm on weeknights. I've watxhed it a couple of times this past week. I don't know what happened to the regular "dogcatcher" that used to roam around looking for strays.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

There the dog catchers around here ???

They are strictly a humane outfit around here and have no police powers although they would like to. They do some good work in finding homes for strays, but our branch is infested with a bunch of PETA nuts sorry to say. M :( nty

SPCA may mean something else in another country,
but in the ole U.S., yeah it's the
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
(who have been doing great work busting up puppy mills in the area)
Neat find anyway, I am sure the Chester County SPCA could
give you more information on the time period for this badge
(I would guess 70's maybe???)
