Picked up this Spanish War Grave marker from the local TS. Another customer picked it up first and we talked about it in great detail. He decided he did not want it so he gave it to me to buy. I took it my local Military expert and he said it was the real deal not a modern one. The ground stake is the same material bronze and soldered on not the modern screw on ground stake. Look at how Porto Rico is spelled. And the place on back where the flag pole is placed is split on solid. Patina cover the who marker. Any way here are a couple of pictures. WILL NOT BE SOLD. WILL LOOK FOR A PROPER PLACE FOR IT.

Nice save but I think it is unacceptable and possibly illegal to sell or buy these items. It is generally considered that anyone of these on the market would have been stolen from a grave. We need to make sure no one buys these items so that we do not encourage people to steal them from cemeteries. If you can find a veteran of the Spanish-American war in a local cemetery I would place it with the one you have.

JimDon, I agree 100%. I would not want the Military plate on my wife's grave to be stolen. I bought this because I did not want it to go into a scrap pile to be melted down. I was thinking about giving it to the VFW but will have to think about that. I would like to find like you say a proper place for it but once again got to make sure it is used for what it was made for. I also indicated it will not be sold on original post.
