Hi all,

Went out yesterday and had a few interesting finds. Started slow with just the metal object with a fish on it. Can anyone tell if it were a small buckle or something? Just a short while later found this marble on top of the ground. after a while decided to hit the field that keeps on giving and after 5 minutes out pops this Spanish realle. Now it is hard to read and is almost all black with patina but wow this is my third in a month and the seventh at this particular sight. Is there anything I can do to remove the black? The coin is wavey also. Hope all enjoyed the day and HH...

Don

most do an electrolysis bath to remove the black silver oxide., nice finds.

Since the Spanish silver is worn and has very little value, take a little baking soda, wet it to make a paste, and rub the coin with the paste gently between your fingers. This is the quickest way to clean silver coin that has little or no numismatic value. You don't want to clean a rare or valuable silver like this.

Thanks, I will do that.
