Correct me if I'm wrong but after a little rubbing I believe this is a Elizabeth I silver sixpence?!

Anyone have any suggestions how to get the rest of that gunk off without ruining it? I saw a post by buckleboy about baking soda and foil. I obviously don't want to wreck it being as it's the oldest thing I'll probably ever find in this area.

Spit & rubbing between foil will work, but sometimes it leaves a slightly shinny effect on the high points.
