well there you go.photography and computers r not my strong point ,but both sides for you, i believe cobs where circulated
widely and this one ended up in a field in italy.if you know any details for an id would like to hear....thanks

Looks like a 2 reales...Old World Shield, most likely a Spain minted cob (*Sevilla, Madrid, Segovia etc...)
Guess it to be in the 1590s to 1640s range...I'm leaning towards Sevilla as Mint. :-\

Nice little chunk of silver...

thats great, bit earlier than i thought,never seen a cob before this came up, thought wow this has been really clipped.

Really clipped? no... just typical for this style, fat chunky planchet, thats why I think it's Spain struck.

Yeah, I agree with Trez. Give us a day or so with cross pics and we can narrow it down. A gram weight would certainly help. The clipping I would consider normal. Even minimal by most standards. Unless of course we are talking about a "royal" (the holy grail of cobs- grin). Stan
