If they're magnetic, they may be natural lodestone. I've collected rocks since I was a kid, and I've never had one, so that's pretty cool.

I think the others are right. I live in Arkansas and have found quite a bit of material that looked similar to your finds. I found most of mine near the Arkansas River I was told it was probably natural ironore.
