I finally found one of those old iron clothes irons. Only thing was, I always thought they were a pretty cool find, ha until I realized how early in the hunt I was and how heavy it was in my pouch. Ha, lol. Oldjerseygirl found some nice finds, two old coppers, the one I could see it is either a capped bust or a draped bust. Hopefully she might be able to clean them enough to get a date? She also found a beautiful silver ring marked sterling. It is missing the stone, no guessing how long it has been bouncing around the plow?
Beautiful day, we are in a new field, found a couple spots that things are concentrated in. It's one of the oldest early settlements in the USA and when I tell you it's a big field I'm talking probably 6000 acres. So we have a couple more crannies to look in. Enjoy the pix, I'll be back there in the am.

Well 6000 acres should keep you busy till the lakes warm up! Nice finds from both of you Brad.

WOW, 6000 acres you should invite e1. I am doing a 56 acre corn field corn field right now with some help and probably won't get it done before they plant in the spring. Congrats on your finds so far & GL with the future finds.

Nicely done.
Man oh man!! Thats alot of walking.
Hope Jersey girl does a post.

Congrats. Looks like a fantastic site.
You can hunt that one for years to come from the sound of it.

Old coppers and silver = a great hunt in my book.

That site's so big you could hold a T'Net hunt and have the whole gang up for a day or two.

Nice! Plenty of "place" to hunt.
Congrats on finds!
I'm liking the key, and is that part of a pair of scissors?
You and JG have a nice play ground to search.

I hope she does too, I hope she doesn't get too impatient with that one copper, I really want to see that ring too, it's old and ornate, I love those kind of rings as much as the gold ones.
Would be cool to see you come down and sniff out some goodies, I'm going off road with my Honda CRV all wheel drive to cut down on some walking. There is a guy lives close by that Iv'e sniffed around couple years back in his 200 yr old house. I'll touch base with him, was thinking about it yesterday.

I'm game, thanks.

Little scissors, your right, that key was off in the surrounding woods where I found the iron. Becky had the right idea staying on the outskirts. I'm sure there has to be some goodies hiding in all the iron, ivy, underbrush, stickers and overgrowth. I'm not going back in there till next spring, the winter will thin things out for me then hit it. I love that key too, thanks.

THANKS BUDDY!

Those old irons are neat to dig. My detecting partner and I dug 5 in one field a few years back. We nicknamed it the " Chinese Laundry Field".

A wide open farm field is one of my favorite places to hunt. I'm always in woods or around houses...

I cant see the buckle too well but what are your thought on age. Nice clothes iron. Where there's an iron there's trousers...and coins! Lots of 'em. Good luck this morning

These photos are not great. But here goes. Love the ring and button. The button is a two piece. Should have taken photo of the back. The ring is in sorry shape, but love it anyway.deer finds 008.JPGdeer finds 009.JPGdeer finds 011.JPG
