I'm sort of new to metal detecting only about 1.5 years into it now.

As of right now I'm into coin shooting and I use a whites dfx. But I just don't feel fully satisfied with it, also I like to hit the beaches around me and this machine does not do to well depth wise in wet sand. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I've messed with ever configuration and only get about 3" depth wet sand.

Now I also own a fisher 1265x and is awesome depth wise but lacks in disc and depth in wet sand.

I love both these detectors but I feel from doing research that the sovereign gt might be the best in its price range for coin shooting and can preform decently at the beach. I also like the fact it's all by listening with no Visuals.

I'm not stuck on any brand maybe there's something better than the GT or the F-75 ? I'd really like to stay in the 1000$ range.

I want a detector with great discrimination at good depth that could also do well at the beach (I only hit beach a few times a year)

Options please!! Any sovereign gt users on here?

Opinions please* not options haha. Would it be better to go all out for a E-trac? However I really like the one box no visual ID

Hi Dan not sure about the f75 but the sov gt with 15 inch wot is meant to be the king of the wet sand some use reverse discrimination in all metal mode. Others use discrimination with a low base line.

hope this helps MM

I've never used a Fisher metal detector before, I can't say anything about them.

But, I do own two Sovereign GTs... one to use and the other as a backup.

No problems!

Im fairly new to the hobby and use a F75. I don't have any experience with it in the wet sand. Im happy with the F75, but want a minelab. The F75 will find coins. There is a few guys who use the F75 on here for water hunts, maybe they will speak up. 100_5958.JPGLast hunt.

Another option would be to check into a Nasa Tom tuned CZ3D. Great machine for finding those old deep silvers , plus everyone knows how good they are on the beaches too.
p.s.
Go over to the Whites forum and get some info on your DFX,maybe you have some settings out of adjusted..

they say the gt sovereign is a tesoro vaquero on steroids
