Hit the area around the crane again at low tide...lots of rocks and pretty shallow, which was good as I had my GT with me today. Both my excals have been experiencing some "issues" so I have shipped em up to OBN and see if he can work his magic on them! In the meantime, gonna have to be CAREFUL on the beach hunts and not to go out too far in the water! Did a good job splash proofing and streamlining it all but was VERY aware of where the box was the whole time! (under my elbow).
Found a bunch of lead weights, clad coins, no old ones, bullets..........trash of course and what looks like some sort of police or military insignia. Doesn't look that old. The brass thing though I'm stumped on. Pretty small, rang up GREAT on the GT of course, and it was DEEP! Had quite the "impact crater" going right there in 5 inches of water! Anyone know what it might be? Maybe the end to some sort of wooden tool or instrument? Beach it was found on is where the Nansamond Hotel once stood and was once the headquarters of the Atlantic Command during WWII and was where beach landings were planned and practiced for North Africa.
Cool beach glass finds in the scoop there as well.....getting hard to find any on the beach as the little old lady "collectors" usually descend like locusts at low tide to gather the days haul!
Thanks for looking!
