Detector(s) used
excalibur II, x-terra 30
Been looking to upgrade from my Minelab 30 for a while, and no matter how many machines I read about I always seem to come back to the Sov GT making it to the top of my wishlist. Think I'm just going to have to buck-up and take the plunge. But just before I do I wanted to hear if you guys thought there was a detector out there that would out perform the GT overall. I live in SE Tx and can make it to the beach 4-6 times a year but will hunt around old homes, schools and churches most of the time with some freshwater river and lake hunts from time to time. I hunt mostly for coin and jewelry but anything old and cool is always a good find. Look forward to hearing all thoughts - thanks

Both of these are good detectors but I give thumbs up to the Sov GT. It will also do a great job in the wet saltwater sand where the M6 can't. It is very deep and with the addition of a Sunray S-1 inline probe it is a killer.

:icon_thumright: I agree! Great beach machine with lots of versatility! Feel free to call me with questions or or a great deal!

M6 with 4x6 coil. Great target separation. Dimes down to about 8 inches. Extremely easy to set up and use. Beach setting for wet sand. 7 tones for target ID.

My favorite. Just my 2 cents.

Had a Sov XS2A PRO, have a Whites M6. If you will be doing mainly salt water beach hunting, then go with the Sovereign. If mainly inland hunting get the M6, inland it is just as deep as the Sovereign in the dirt. But it is lighter, faster and one of the best (in my opinion) coin and jewelry detectors going. It is also much hotter on gold. The M6 will work at the beach, although not as well as the Sovereign. Since you have a Xterra 30, you should also look at the Xterra 705.

Sorry I haven't been back in a while - its been a crazy holiday season. Thanks for the replies. The M6 does sound like it might do the trick, although I do see myself eventually getting a Sov GT.... along with many others... lol... Thanks
