Southern Comfort Herrmidifier, is it an antique?

My son and his girlfriend recently bought a house that was built in 1950. I was looking at the oil furnace trying to figure out if it works or not and noticed this on the other side of it. Does anyone know the story behind it? Thanks for looking!

The company is still in business, I'd contact them, but I'd imagine it's fairly old....
