2 by 1 1/16 field find from Stewart County Georgia; and as usual it has a tip dig but it being semi-translucent makes up for it.

Those notches are great. They are about as asymmetrical as I can recall. I like how that inclusion was incorporated and than left as is.
Im really glad to see you at this site. I really enjoy seeing and hearing about your finds.

With those squared off base corners, I'd call it a Big Sandy, but a great point regardless!

Thanks Fat, good to see you here as well. I always enjoy your post and the killers you have.

Thanks Sand, not sure if big Sandy's are found in my area but it does look like one, actually I'm about to check on that.

Actually they are, I'll definitely go with Big Sandy on this. I think I have some others as well. Thanks for mentioning that Sand

It makes for a good day to pick up one of those. I used to have a site that produced Bolens and Big Sandy's but it's in pine tress now.

Nice point! I like it! Thanks for posting.

It’s interesting how varied the styles are back east, as well as the size.
Out west, where I’m at, they seem to all be similar styles, small in size, and of limited lithic materials.
Almost utilitarian feeling.

Maybe I need to expand my searches to someplace older.

Boy, that's a common refrain. Sounds like half of south Georgia. That and no-till. Sigh...

I think if your finding those “yellow” stones, the ones with “overshot” will be there too.
There is so much to learn from this www. Ive only look at about 5 topics and a whole lot of the banner stuff. It just boggles my mind.
I need a detector and thought I would study them. Every time I log in here, I seem to push an advertisement for them but I try and stay on task and forget to go back and looksee.
How far west do I need to go?

Points like that one, which I think of as southern Thebes points, make me almost want to collect them. But it's better seeing you guys finding and showing them for others to enjoy. And cheaper. :laughing7:
