It's button size, but with a threaded shaft. Maybe for the leather band in a cap, or rifle strap. Any ideas?

Someone on FB suggested it's from a Citadel cadet uniform.

Appears to be Citadel related, it's as stated a chin strap stud, or screw back button, etc. It's used to hold the chin strap to the brim of a Service Cap aka Bus Drivers hat aka Wheel Hat.

The CB marking is the key to dating this, I wonder if it could be related to C.B. & CO of Baltimore.
