My buddies Jdsly and cbxjon went to our heavily hunted site where we've found several 1812 Artillery buttons and other cool relics. Although we've pounded this site it still continues to give up some great finds! I dug the division 1 artillery button first and that was enough to make it a great trip to me.

After working the area for a while I decided to make my way to the perimeter fire break and hunt it on the way back to the truck. We've all hunted this fire break numerous times but it gave up what is probably my favorite find so far, a South Carolina button! The pics are after cleaning it and I was glad to see it has a lot of gilt left. Love this button!

Gotta love sites that keep giving up beauties like that! Awesome buttons, they cleaned up nice! HH!

The brass 3-piece South Carolina State Seal button's backmark saying "M.C. Lilley & Co. Columbus O" means it dates from sometime between 1876 and World War Two. Info source is the book "American Military Button Makers And Dealers; Their Backmarks & Dates" by William F. McGuinn & Bruce S. Bazelon.

Damn that SC button looks fantastic! Great job on the cleaning

man sometimes to me, buttons are way more fun to find than old coins!

theres some nice ones there!

Those are nice buttons Darby. Made all the sweat worth it. Its my turn for the cool buttons next time. Good stuff!

I like the old one piece the best, even though the gold is pretty, and I admit to having none as nice as that.

After finding so many flat buttons it was great finding anything military! I love the Artillery button but finding one with SC on it was high on my wish list! Did hope it was earlier though but still super happy with it. Thanks

Those are beautiful buttons!!! Love the big A
