For a couple of cold, cold months, I've been reading the excellent posts of our friends out East, digging in their nice sandy-soft soil and pulling out wonderful colonial coins and civil war artifacts. I have to admit I am mucho envious, and sitting here in my mid-western house looking at my detector while other detectorists are out braving sub-freezing temps was making me feel most unmanly. Yesterday, I received an excellent boost to my morale, a new Minelab X-terra 705. I had to get out and give it a try, knowing that the East coasters are currently being buried under several feet of snow in a wicked storm, and we have only 1 inch and 28 balmy degrees F. I headed to the neighborhood tot lot to give the 705 its first run, with my folding army surplus shovel in hand. Unfortunately, the wood chips that covered the lot were frozen so hard that they resisted even my most energetic shovel stomps. In the end, I didn't really get to give the new 705 much of a workout, and I found only 14 cents. But oh, that feeling...in spite of the numbing wind and the pitiful finds...I fed the addiction, and I think I can make it another month or so until the thaw. HH! :headbang:

Its all about the hunt and just getting out there and in joying the time . :hello2: happy hunting ron

My buddy has the 705 & I have the terra 70. You'll love that machine if you hunt in areas with alot of trash.

I know what you mean, I went out yeasterday for the first time in a month, it was 35 and a howling breeze. the ground was soft form the recent rain, but man was it COLD!!!! HH!

I feel your pain too. I'm in IL, on the other side of the state, midway down. THings are frozen solid here too. Hoping for a thaw sometime this month, but knowing that in a little over a month it will be on the way. $.14 not bad for the conditions you had. Very good.
:hello: HH in 2010 :hello2:
