Sooo.... bought a used Excal 800 I didnt need. Any tips?

You'll enjoy not having to dig iron! That's a good coil for underwater but a bigger one goes deeper and has better coverage. If you want max depth, hunt in pin point. Once you get a hit, flip the switch back to disc to see if it's iron or not. Run it as "hot" as your conditions will allow.
 

Excited to use the new machine in the water! Any tips? Any books you recommend? I have a perfectly good Tiger Shark that has done well for me, but I couldn't resist picking this up for the price I got.

I know how exactly how it is when a crazy good deal comes to u I thought I was totaly good fine with my Atpro as u can c a v3i & a deus xp r in the pack & all sports of coils etc some stuff u just cant pass up good luck
 

Thanks cudamark I saw that people were doing the PP then Disc thing, but wasn't sure what the advantage was against just running in Disc.
 

The advantage to running in PP is a bit of extra depth and in some cases better target sound and separation when you have multiple dissimilar metals.
