Son's first exciting find

I took my 11 yr. old son to an old park in Dallas and the very first coin he dug was this 1904 IH penny! It was under leaves in shallow dirt. It is his first great find and I think he is hooked! All I found that day was 12 cents. Last week I did find a nice 1967 Kennedy, so will share that.

Re: Son's first exciting find

Wow! Exceptional first find! In fact, a pretty nice find no matter how long you've been hunting.

I took my boy when he was 5. When he dug his first target using my Whites with a target ID, he said, "I found one cent!" I looked at the coin and said, "Oh, you found a penny." He corrected me, pointing to the TID on the machine, saying, "No. It says one cent." ::)

I hope you've found a new hunting partner.

Just one question. Is he "Hooked" now? What a great find. Can't wait to hear about his next one!

Re: Son's first exciting find

Congrats to your son, that's awesome. I was about his age when I first started detecting, and didn't find my first Indian head for an additional thirty years! I must have been a slow learner, because they show up a lot more often now.

Good job!

Guess your parks aren't all picked through like the ones up here in McKinney.
