From the land of the Bluenose.....at some point in time I'm sure all of us have upset our "significant other" in what we have thought to be in an insignificant way. After all we are men and part of being a man is occasionally being sent to the dog house for something we said, forgot to say or spending too much time with Bud or the Garretts. Saturday it was my turn as I cast a comment from the stern of the "Loveboat" and was banished and relegated not to the dog house but a 100 meters behind that to the outhouse where the big doggy dew hangs out!
Breakfast in bed the next morning moved me a step closer....the dog house and I really didn't mind gaining a few brownie points and maybe , just maybe getting the go ahead to go a digging. Was pushing the good luck envelope to the max and it worked! Marie had a bad cold and lost her voice.......um! Some would say the perfect woman but I looked at it on the bright side; instead of a hot tongue I just received the cold shoulder which to this bouy was another step in the right direction.
With the sky black and forbodding it fit the state I was in to a tee.
The stop at low tide on Horseshoe Island in the stinky muck produced a pair of unexpected Trinadad coins but did little to lighten the load of my lady's scorn and like the wall around the beach I too was crumbling.
After a few coins I and the dark cloud that was hanging over my head moved to a new location and penny popped. After a few hits I dug this button which seems fitting as St. Mary's University is just across the street from this park!
Meandering aimlessly and thinking about how to get back in the good books I dug up a timely find....a watch which was about as crusty and toasty as I was.
My attention span was that of a gnat and I moved to yet another spot after having the delusion that I was going to find the big one...no not catch the big one...Lord love a duck...and I didn't even see one!
Haven't seen one that big since I left Yellowknife!
Next location was for the birds if you look closely. At least it wasn't a swan or it's song!
Man if you could have seen me running along the fence with my detector in one hand and the camera in the other wearing my green gum rubbers I'm sure you would have smurked. Don't know who was crazier ...the pheasant who ran along the fence instead of flying away or the bouy chasing him to get the photo. Of course it won the footrace and squeezed through the fence. Mister Man no way was this 245 ponder going to get through there! To add insult to misery the darn thing squawked at me for the next half hour once it was safe in the woods. Near the far goal post I did get a great shot of a bird as this one was going no where and I wondered what in the halibut it was doing there
....like the rabbit that was now replacing the pheasant running down the fence line. No way was I going to try and keep up to that puppy for a son of a sea horsing photo...I was as flat as a flounder at that point.
Anyway take for the day was a watch. Mr Bud Gee, 2 foreign coins, pin and 118 coins @ $9.40
On the way home I picked up some Chineese food at May's and once again was sailing on the Loveboat which leaves Wednesday at 0600hrs for 2 weeks in Puerto Plata.
