I went out for a little property hunt this late afternoon. A early lighter across the lane way in front of the house.
Then a really nice buckle on the slope in behind the barn in the bush.
At the bottom of the slop is the mill pond, and that's where I found the Dandy button.
2 minute walk, no gas burnt.
Lived here for 6 1/2yrs and I am just getting to this part of the property.
A good little hunt.

Jim,

Good score on the trench lighter. Looks like a good restoration project.

You're fortunate to have so much history on your own property Jim..
Are there any backmarks on the 'Dandy' button, love the detail on the front.
I'd love to tumble the snot outta that light you found. :laughing7:

Keep cool buddy 8-), gonna be another hot one today, possible thunderstorms in the PM here.

Thanks RV. The buckle was a complete surprise as it was under a broken blade, so it rang up weird.

Thanks Bill, I might just do that, along with the other ###s of finds.

Thanks Dave it's nice to walk to the hunting spot in less than it takes to drive to the highway.:laughing7:
The brass will look pretty good if it was snot tumbled. :tongue3:
No bench mark on the button.

I'm really fortunate to have 42 acres of playground 25+ in total bush. So what it was 2 hundred years ago and today is different.

Love that dandy button!!

Excellent relics. I like them all, especially that Dandy button and the Trench lighter.

Coming out of the water's edge black earth it's in fine shape.

Excellent relics. I like them all, especially that Dandy button and the Trench lighter.
Thanks TH

Nice relics from the homestead ! I think we'd all be happy with those finds.
Thank you Argentium
I certainly am myself, always nice to get a bit local history on the property.

That liter is certainly unusual.
It's the first one I believe I've dug, so it's a keeper.

I can relate to the niceness of just stepping out doors. And you don't have to ask for permission. :laughing7:

You have cool relics hidden in you piece of earth. First time I have seen a trench lighter. Pretty cool. Congrats, pepper! :hello2:

A batwing buckle and one of the nicer Dandy buttons I've seen. Not bad for a hunt that's only a stone's throw away. I bet there's a few more sweet finds to be made there. :occasion14:

Thank you WD
Having a tad over 40 acres gives me time to play once in while. Agreed it's the best when one can even be a tad messy with the covering of the holes.:laughing7:

Thank you very much Evolution
The buckle was a complete surprise actually. The dandy is nice, in it original toning. Must be because of the watery state it sat in for all this time.
