Looks like a sachet ball, to fill with scent. Worn by women on necklaces, except the hole seems too small

There is two holes on it btw.

This one is a mystery to me.
The hole looks like, can't think of the term now, like corroded away.
I could be and probably am 100% wrong.
If it was whole originally then im stumped!
Yeah im in interested seeing the final outcome.

It’s not corrodes. The two holes are in symmetry.
