Hi All. Not sure what forum to use on this one.
I purchased this tombstone years ago at a yard sale in Calif. I would like to get info and or send it to family or???

It reads: In
Memory
of
May C Burbank
Died July 23 180?
At Birth

Not sure about: 23rd. could be 28th or 29th and the last 2 digits of the year. It is for sure 1800s
Nor am I sure that it says birth but since there is no born date it seems luckily.

I'm not versed at researching birth records. Especially since I have no idea what state it is from.
I would like to find a home of some sort for this Piece. Doing me no good in my garage. I don't check the forum everyday but I will be checking back. Thanks Lookdown

Interesting find!
I can't help you but maybe hit the "contact us" at ancestry.com and hopefully if they can't help they can steer you in the right direction.
Good Luck!
Mike

Hey Lookdown, That date looks like July 28-1812.
Yard Digger

Question: 2 questions actually, Can you tell what kind of wood it is ? Identification of the wood can tell us possiably what are of the country it came from originally. Maybe?
And Possiably this is a grave marker for a baby? Died July 28, 1812 at birth, unless there is family records , 1812 was not a census year. So without knowing where the marker originally came from, it would be hard to locate the appropriate family unless they have bible records, letters etc. The burbanks I have found for that time period are in the northern states, Maine, Mass. NY,etc. 362 with the name of May and 11,942 by Relevance . I have a membership payed monthly with Anecestry, for family research etc.
