Hey everyone! Not sure if this would belong here but it seems to be a find. My aunt has just given me my Great Grandfathers coin collection. The interesting thing about this though is the story. He owned a Laundry Mat in D.C and had picked coins out of peoples pockets and found coins in washers. I'm not sure about you guys but I find this fascinating, just think about these immigrants that had just come from all of the world and had these coins in their pockets. The bill that I received were from when he was a taxi driver and some people had to pay in foreign bills. I already have an extensive collection of U.S and world coins and have much knowledge on coins but some of these I could have never imagined about being able to find. There is quite a bit of silver in this collection but I have no plans on selling any of these coins because of the sentimental and historical value.
These are all the silver coins.
Those are all 2 cent pieces. One of the large cents is a draped bust and one cornet.
Tax and Fare tokens from around the U.S and from various states. There is also a Civil War "Not One Cent"
Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures! Thanks for looking!
